(working title "travelling light")
Through silent movement and some words, this piece is a contemplative searching for one's true identity under the layers of situations, roles, memories, image, self-image, life stages and maybe even lifes lived.
After shedding, lizards eat their old skin in order to retrieve the precious protein from the dead tissue. A sandwich traveling down my intestinal tract in fact remains outside of my body until it has been digested beyond recognition, assimilated in my cells and become an indistinguishable part of me. Therefore, is anything I can name, point tell apart, describe, discuss (like the ingredients of that sandwich) a part of me? Where is the "body", the core "I" where the life experience and dissected information precipitates? Knowledge, dismantled like a protein molecule and ready to be reused for building wisdom like aminoacids from the slice of cheeze eventually build my eyeballs.
The aim of this performance was to have the members of my audience ask: what am I, where am I? Judging from the burning eyes of the spectators who didn't dear to speak when I them to share their layers and stories, this performance must have touched a [forgotten?] string within them.
